Kids' slumber party is NOT my cup of tea!

I can't believe how 2 kids can actually give me a real nightmare. It's strange, funny to a certain extend, and totally unbelievable. For at least the past 10 years, I haven't had a nightmare, & it's a as easy as spending a night with 2 kids to give me a nightmare! Ergh...

I was mandated to take care of Abigail & Phoebe while Uncle Francis & Aunty Rosalind go to KL to settle Abi's accomodation last Saturday-Sunday. Things were actually alright cos they aren't a bundle of mess, at least not Phoebe. I was in uni on Saturday morning (can u believe it?? On a Saturday! Im rarely seen in uni on weekends!) for the ExpoConvo rehearsal. It was a boring rehearsal as the MPP's task was to lead the Tengku Muda Pahang into the hall and out of the hall after the event only. Bah.

Anyways, thank God for Aunty Evelyn & Uncle Jeff who came all the way to my uni to pick me up to get to Abi's. Poor Abigail was home alone since her parent left for KL in the morning. Didn't know that she actually cried cos I wasn't there yet... she was expecting me to be there around 1pm. *sigh* Kids will forever be kids. I arrived only around 2.30pm.

I was pretty much tired & dropped dead in front of the TV til 5+pm! I told Gail that we'll leave for Aunty Evelyn's house, for lil Phoebe's birthday party, at 5pm. Bummer. So much for making and keeping promises. Big Phoebe (Tan) came home after that, so we waited for her to wash up & we left for the house around 6.30pm.

It's great to be at a family-friend's house. It's been quite some time since I attended any kid's birthday party. It was a small scale party, so no pressure...haha. In any case, that lil Phoebe is just 2 years old this year! We had a short time of worship before moving on to the glorious spread of food. There were pizza, pasta, and potatoes! Yum yum! I spent the rest of the time being slightly anti-social and doing what I do best: wash dishes. All this attributes to 1. training at my aunt's house. Each time there's a dinner/party, I'll be the one washing the dishes. 2. Jeremiah School. We're used to washing dishes there...haha. Kuan insisted on helping me out & we had some time to do a short catch up with each other.

Phoebe Tan was tired after a whole day at church for the SOE, so we left for home early. Nichol, Aunty Evelyn's eldest daughter & Gail's closest friend, came over to the house for a slumber party...ergh... kids and their fun. Bah. So, I just took all 5 of us home & Phoebs went straight to bed while I settle the 2 kids.

Now, here is where the 'nightmare' begins....

It was almost 10pm, & I was on the hp with KH. The kids were in the room dunno doing what, & I was trying to multi-task by talking on the hp, get the washing machine moving, and answer questions from the kids each time they run downstairs to disturb me. *sigh* I felt like a total baby-sitter cum godmother of 2 kids. Somehow, I was just a lil stressed... the washing machine just gave me some problems & I had to sms uncle Francis to ask him how to deal with it. Aunty Rosalind ended up asking me to not bother washing their clothes for them; she'll wash them when she gets back. But knowing Miss Wong, she just can't stand seeing 2 big baskets full of clothes waiting to be washed by one busy mother of 4, Aunty Rosalind. So I prayed and somehow got the machine to work in the end. Gah.

Nearly 10.45pm, I checked on the kids to see if they're asleep yet & to my surprise, they were still awake making each other do some BM spelling. Aiyo... *smacks forehead* "You all are suppose to go to bed, not give each other spelling tests..." No, that phrase does not work on kids ages 8 & 9. *shakes head in dismay* I told them I'll be back at 11 & I would want to see them asleep by then. I went down to settle the clothes. At 11pm, I went upstairs, and found the light off, the table lamp turned on, and both the girls in bed... Gail reading a bedtime story to Chol. *ARGH!*

"Eh? What are the both of you doing?"
"I'm reading Nichol a bedtime story..."
"You're suppose to be asleep, not read bedtime stories to Nichol...now go to bed. I'll read the story & you sleep."

So, I read the story. Aiyo...fortunate kids. Ruth jie-jie is SO nice to read them stories...bah!

"And they live happily ever after. The end. Now sleep ya? Where's my good night kiss?"

Kekeke...how demanding of me... :P They gave me a kiss each & both of them got one from me before i left the room. Ah... finally. I went downstairs to hang the clothes outside. I was almost done, when I heard Gail & Chol coming down. *pulls hair*

"Nichol cannot sleep..."
"I told you to sleep d right? Why are you still awake?? Haiyo...when I'm done hanging the clothes, everyone goes up to bed ok?"

They turned on the TV & watched PowerPuff Girls...at 11+pm!! ERgh... there's church teh next day & they're still awake. Bummer. I hastily finish the clothes business, locked the doors and shoo-ed them to the room. Initially they just didn't want to move...eyes glued to the TV. I turned it off & made them move upstairs.

Can you sense the stress here??

So, I tucked them into bed, & moved my pillows & all into their room to sleep with them.

"You're sleeping here tonight ar?"
"Yes."
"How long? Until we sleep or whole night?"
"Dunno. Maybe until you sleep, maybe whole night..."
"Aiyo..."
"Sleep la, aiyo..."

Thus they tried to sleep, giggle a lil, kicked a bit...etc.

"Eh, I said sleep right? I'm counting to 10. If you don't sleep, I'm gonna sleep in the middle, in between the both of you ar...ONE....!!"

*silence*.....*giggles*

"TWO....!!!!"

*silence*...*Nichol kicks Gail*

"THREE!!!...."

*silence*...I fell asleep. Bah.

The next part is the most interesting. I'll continue in the next post... patience...
