Latest camp in Mersing

Hmm...lots have been taking place of late. I just came back from a camp in Mersing, Johor (3-5 March). Yes, it's Johor again, but I didn't go to JB, ok? I had to take up a 1-credit hour co-curriculum subject this semester, so I took up trekking. The camp was held at some...NS area la...can't recall the name now. We stayed in the jungle (something like that), in eeky cement huts, big enough to pack in 30+ ppl like sardines, without beds, but with mats & 2 dirty & smelly canvas sheets. Try imagining the horror of sleeping there for 2 nights! *faints* That place is actually at the meeting point of the river and the sea. Quite intresting as I haven't seen such a thing b4. So we had the river, the sea & the jungle all in one! Fantabulous eh?

On the overall, I actually had great fun. We arrived there around 1am on Saturday (left only around 9+pm on Friday...got lost upon reaching Mersing cos we don't know where the camp site was), were given nasi lemak for supper (eeuww...how can anyone eat at 1+am??! Some more it's carbohidrates!!!), unpacked & went to sleep. We were awoken at 6 am cos the Muslims have their prayers each morning...we also kena bangun. Bummer. Oh, the 'toilets' are just a square zinc cubicle, big enough to fit several ppl, with 2 pipes& 2 squatting toilets. All under the sun...no roof one! So basically, we have to bathe in sarongs, but if we didn't bring, then pandai-pandai la.

The activities we had was pretty nice. We had flying fox & absailing on Saturday, went to the beach for fun...oh,watched the surise too, and had a barbeque dinner. To top it off, we ended the day with a night jungle trek! Amazing....superbly dark, mosquito filled & army of ants everywhere!

On our last day, Sunday, we had kayaking, which was my first time at it...tough man. We had to row downstream & upstream back, against the river current! My arms felt as if it wants to fall off like the Barbie doll's. After that we had the obstacle course, where it was yet another challenge, although I have done the same thing at a leadership training last December. Believe it or not, my arms and legs were shaking already by the end of the day. Too tired & used too much strength. Some more I am not a very fit person...don't exercise one...haha...sakit jiwa.Such was the recent weekend. Another week is around. More challenges ahead!
