It's been more than a week since I last posted anything in here. *sigh* Loads have happened, & I just don't know where to begin.

I've learnt a lot on life since the last time i blogged. It seems that things just don't always go our way, & the worst is that plans are usually ruined at the last minute! Bummer. I was really looking forward to this weekend, to relax & have some fun after a week of battle. I had a maths test, which I did badly (thankfully there's a re-test next Friday), a hands on test yesterday night, which I nearly freaked out, but I could do at the end, and loads of projects to complete before the one week study break kicks in the week after next!

This weekend, KHup will be in town. At present, that 'Energy Bar' is in KL for a movie marathon. 'Energy Bar' is the new name I give to him cos he's memang penuh tenaga. i wonder if Milo really helps... Yesterday, he drove down to KL after work & arrived only around midnight. The first thing he did upon arriving is to head to Bangsar for some lepaking....tsk tsk tsk. He'll drive to Kuantan tomorrow and leave on Saturday...real madness.

I wish I have more time this weekend. I just received news 2 days ago that the minister of higher education is coming on Saturday afternoon, and as a SRC member, I have to be around. ARGH! I dislike it! Ruined...my Saturday....:( How am I gonna get back to uni and get out again?? I'll be leading worship in CG on Friday night, so I'll be in town already! Ergh....don't like.

Sacrifices. It's really tough to make sacrifices. Sometimes I wish I was more passive & ain't in the council. What have I been doing in the council? Practically nothing! Every other R & D work is carried out by each individual council member themselves! What is my role? All the surveys that I want to do, the JPK will do, or the other council members will do. *sigh* I feel SO useless. All I am doing is just to attend meetings (sometimes useless ones) and go for events. *sighs again*

2nd year for my course is coming to an end. I've got 6 more months to go in this council. Sad that I am actually counting down the days left before my term ends. Haiz...

Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu

Like who would actually think that this phrase means something logical??!! Well, I thought that it is just a silly phrase, but in actual fact, it's a malay dialect phrase! Northen BM. Bah. How I know?

Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu literally means 'come here, go there, come here, go there and still end up at the spot we began.' Pi comes from pergi, Mai comes from mari, and tang tu...I can't recall. *sigh* KHup had a really good laugh at me on the phone yesterday. Cis cis. I'm not that good at BM la... plus, I am not from the northen states!

Learnt a number of Kelantanese BM words as well... like tubik, which means "to come out" ... "to think" ...derived from the word Malay word 'terbit', which means "rising of the sun" or "to publish". *sigh* Don't ask me anything to do with Malay dialects. My BM has never improved much. Memang pi mai pi mai tang tu wan....heh.

Overflowing with Gratitude

Written last week...Thursday, 16 March 2006 (3:37pm)
There’s a lot to be thankful lately. The achievements…ah…satisfying. All praise & thanks be to God. Indeed all glory & honour go to Him, who deserves it all! *dances around with joy*

Little achievements just bring joy to my heart. I suppose it’s the self-satisfaction kinda feeling. It assures me that I am good in at least ONE field. Heh.

  1. I won the first place for the Public Speaking Competition in conjunction with the Cultural Week in uni last week. Cash prize! Although not a lot, but to just give an impromptu speech for 3 minutes and receive some cash is something nice!
  2. Got full marks (individual) for my meeting skills assessment the recent Tuesday, and my group scored the highest for the group assessment. We had loads of fun & I believe that we have good group dynamics J
  3. My software system project is nearly done. All thanks to my group members, who are proactive in helping out to complete the project together as a group. Love my group!

Hmm…besides that, my sister is finally getting into college. Really fortunate for her…I didn’t get to go to college. I hope she’ll put in effort for the amount that we have to pay. Thankfully, my parents need not worry about my education most of the time as I am really blessed to have received form various sources since I left secondary school to finance my further education *smiles*

All things seem to go well enough. I had a great time chatting on the phone yesterday…nearly fell off my chair laughing so hard. It’s been a while since I had a really good laugh. Heh. I thank God for the endless amusing & entertaining conversation yesterday. Silly friend of mine. Total fun…teeheehee…

Ah…life. It has its ups and downs. Next week is expected to be a disastrous week. Several assignments to hand up and I’ve a couple of tests and quizzes as well! Argh-eth. Despite that fact, I am looking forward to this weekend, to go back to my Kuantan home. I miss home. Really. Manja…haha.

Rambles & pouts

Managed to surprise my parents when I got home. Haha...had a really good time upon arriving in KL. It was one of those times where I could just go jalan-jalan around KL all by myself & do some 'shopping' & sight-seeing. It seems as if I have been left behind the development and the fun happening in KL. *sigh*

I'm pretty glad to have gotten my dad's birthday gift...kinda last minute, but at leas tI got it a day before his birthdaywithout him knowing...ekekeke...Plus, more joy, my laptop is cleared from all whatsoever viruses & rubbish, & my cousin kau-tim-ed everything for me! Yabadabadoo! My Windows is SP2 already...thanks to the superbly fast internet connection :) Ah....it's great to be home...

I truly wish I had more time here. Ah Kor just emailed me yesterday saying that he is back for good! ArGH! Now only tell me. I didnt have time to meet up with him *pouts* The consolation is that I got to talk with him on the hp for a while before he heads to Seremban for the weekend. *sigh* Miss my kor-kor.

This weekend shall be a refreshing one before i get back to more work! Bah.

Latest camp in Mersing

Hmm...lots have been taking place of late. I just came back from a camp in Mersing, Johor (3-5 March). Yes, it's Johor again, but I didn't go to JB, ok? I had to take up a 1-credit hour co-curriculum subject this semester, so I took up trekking. The camp was held at some...NS area la...can't recall the name now. We stayed in the jungle (something like that), in eeky cement huts, big enough to pack in 30+ ppl like sardines, without beds, but with mats & 2 dirty & smelly canvas sheets. Try imagining the horror of sleeping there for 2 nights! *faints* That place is actually at the meeting point of the river and the sea. Quite intresting as I haven't seen such a thing b4. So we had the river, the sea & the jungle all in one! Fantabulous eh?

On the overall, I actually had great fun. We arrived there around 1am on Saturday (left only around 9+pm on Friday...got lost upon reaching Mersing cos we don't know where the camp site was), were given nasi lemak for supper (eeuww...how can anyone eat at 1+am??! Some more it's carbohidrates!!!), unpacked & went to sleep. We were awoken at 6 am cos the Muslims have their prayers each morning...we also kena bangun. Bummer. Oh, the 'toilets' are just a square zinc cubicle, big enough to fit several ppl, with 2 pipes& 2 squatting toilets. All under the sun...no roof one! So basically, we have to bathe in sarongs, but if we didn't bring, then pandai-pandai la.

The activities we had was pretty nice. We had flying fox & absailing on Saturday, went to the beach for fun...oh,watched the surise too, and had a barbeque dinner. To top it off, we ended the day with a night jungle trek! Amazing....superbly dark, mosquito filled & army of ants everywhere!

On our last day, Sunday, we had kayaking, which was my first time at it...tough man. We had to row downstream & upstream back, against the river current! My arms felt as if it wants to fall off like the Barbie doll's. After that we had the obstacle course, where it was yet another challenge, although I have done the same thing at a leadership training last December. Believe it or not, my arms and legs were shaking already by the end of the day. Too tired & used too much strength. Some more I am not a very fit person...don't exercise one...haha...sakit jiwa.Such was the recent weekend. Another week is around. More challenges ahead!

Ruthie Rambles

The first week of March is coming to an end. Gosh...time really flies! Loads to catch up on & plenty to settle. Ergh...would LOVE to have a good break.

Lately, nothing extraordinary has happened to me. Kinda dull, but the routine is somewhat nice. Each day brings a new beginning. Perhaps that is something to look forward to. The season of Lent is here. I'm really not used to the discipline of fasting & praying...*sigh* Am trying to practice such discipline & am finding it pretty refreshing as I enter each new day. Well, well, I've got to learn somehow.

Life has been good. Busy & all, but I really thank God for placing my family & friends around. Can't imagine life without any of 'em. At least I have something to look forward to at the end of each week...getting back to my Kuantan home or even hearing from a friend or two through the handphone. Ah...nice.

I miss a few buddies....Irene, Fernie, Mabes, Gloria, Kenneth, the list goes on...*sigh* Somehow, as the years go by, I find myself having less time for friends... it takes some initiative to call a person up or even drag a friend out of the house for a chat. Oh, I look forward to doing such things.
