Back in Kuantan at last! After an 'exciting' weekend, I needed something more routine. Pah. Can't believe that Miss Wong is saying this huh? I dislike routines, but not this time; I needed the mundane lifestyle for a break from all the energy-consuming events.
The past weekend has been too 'exciting'. To give a clearer scenario of the event that took place, last Saturday was actually my cousin's wedding day. I left for Singapore on Thursday and got back only on Monday (in the wee hours of the morning). I stayed with my uncle Mike (which I still don't know if that was the best idea) and practically wore myself out throughout that 4 days.
Day 1, Thursday- 10 Nov 2005
I left on the KKKL bus from Puduraya terminal at 8.45 a.m. to Singapore. That silly bus was supposed to leave at 8 a.m! I nearly died of carbon-monoxide poisoning! Cis. There were only 6 people in the bus to Singapore, including the driver. (!!!) The journey was OK, considering I can still get some sleep. 2 passengers left the bus upon arriving at Batu Pahat, while another left slightly further along the way. The second last passenger (this includes me) got down at the Larkin station, leaving yours truly to travel alone with the bus driver into Singapore. Gosh. Scary.
I was pretty blur throughout the ride into S'pore. I didn't know what I had to do and where I had to wait. Pah. It's certainly not my first time going into S'pore alone, but it is indeed my first time getting DIRECTLY into S'pore by bus; I will usually go from JB and take the Causeway link into S'pore. Well, well, Miss Wong kind panicked along the way. I got a lil confused while I was at the JB imigration & at Woodlands Checkpoint...I didn't know where my bus went after I got out of the counters!!! Argh...bummer. There was a slight jam before the 'bus area', so the bus took some time to get there. I was very relieved when I saw the driver...ergh.
Thus began my journey into S'pore. There was yet another jam in S'pore due to an accident and we had to take a detour. Bah. The driver even asked me, "Moi, u tau jalan dari sini tak?" Good grief, I mana tau??! He asked me if I'm Singaporean and I told him I'm not. Eek. He had no clue where he's heading to, and I am no better. We just followed the cars in front of us and weaved our way through the industrial area until we got to the main road again. Sheesh...konon-nya bus driver for KL-S'pore.
I got down at Kovan later than I was expected to arrive. I quickly got onto the city bus towards uncle Mike's, looking forward to get some proper rest. Ah well, I couldn't rest at all. Upon arriving at the house, Moses kor-kor greeted me and told me to hurry up as we had to leave for the hotel...a lot of people were waiting for them. Sheesh. There goes the rest. I took my luggage into the room, washed my face, and hurried out.
We got to Hyatt, where they got a room, sat down a while, chat a bit with my uncle, aunt...etc, then headed out to Millenium Walk with Moses and Poi Lai. I just sat around while they tried out their new specs, and after that, they told me to go my way. Bummer! They should have told me WAY earlier, then I can go walking around town or something, rather than sitting around and being the 'lamp post'.
Anyways, I went around Bras Basah alone, trying very hard to find my way around as I don't really have a map. *sigh* I hate feeling lost. It was drizzling, but I can't be bothered, 'cause I felt so lost anyways. I had to ask quite a number of people along the way for directions...
I met up with Gloria around 6+ p.m. at the Orchard mrt station, and boy, was I relieved to be 'found'. It was great catching up with her and having dinner with her at the Crystal Jade La Mian and Siao Long Pao Restaurant at Wisma Atria. I couldn't spend too long a time with her as she was tired after a day's work. We parted at 9 p.m. after walking around Takashimaya and Orchard Road. After sending her off, I went around alone, looking at the lights and the Christmas decorations, which were up...most of the shopping complexes had their deco up already.
I got tired and lost again after an hour, so I spent some time searching for the Somerset mrt station to get back home. I arrived home around 11+ p.m, feeling a lil bad to keep my uncle and aunt waiting for me to get back, and feeling very tired as well (my legs felt wobbly). My cousin wasn't too pleased with me getting home so late, I reckon. *sigh* Thus ended the first day of my S'pore trip.
